"Parched" represents a dry river bed, which we have placed next to the running water of the Muddy River bringing a fragment of an arid landscape to verdant New England. While the Northeast faces rising waters and flood, much of the country is experiencing severe drought. With our installation we wish to call attention to the tension between the extremes arising from global warming. The particular shape of sycamore bark, collected from the banks of the Charles River, evokes the pattern created by parched earth in drying riverbeds in parts of our country and the world.
